EAC Softball Splits Four-Game Series With Arizona Western

 

The Eastern Arizona College softball team battled through a competitive weekend against Arizona Western College, splitting the March 27–28 home series with two wins and two losses.

Game 1 – EAC 4, AWC 3 (8 innings)
The opener delivered plenty of drama, as the Gila Monsters edged out the Matadors in extra innings. After a tight back-and-forth battle, Malayah Renteria sealed the win in spectacular fashion—launching a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth to lift EAC to a 4–3 victory.

Game 2 – EAC 11, AWC 3
Eastern Arizona kept the momentum rolling in Game 2, exploding for an 11-3 win. Karen Castro crossed the plate three times, while Kayisa Nakoa put together a strong offensive performance with three hits and two RBI to help secure the sweep on Day 1.

Game 3 – AWC 5, EAC 2
Arizona Western responded on Day 2, taking the first game 5–2. Despite the setback, the Gila Monsters saw solid production from Madeline Reed, who tallied two hits and an RBI, while Vanessa Gavigan added a run.

Game 4 – AWC 8, EAC 0
The final game of the series went to the Matadors, who closed out the weekend with an 8–0 victory. C. O'Farrell recorded EAC's lone hit of the game.
