Women’s Basketball Goes 2–1 at Gila Monsters Tournament, Prepares for Cochise Road Trip
Eastern Arizona Women's Basketball put together a strong showing at the EAC Gila Monsters Tournament held November 6–8 inside Guitteau Gymnasium, finishing the weekend 2–1.
The Monsters opened play on Thursday with a hard-fought battle against the College of Southern Idaho, taking the game into overtime before narrowly falling 74–77. Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam led with 16 points, while Eanae Dagons turned in a balanced night with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Stephanie Goncalves added 6 assists, and both Esmeralda Enriquez (15 points) and Lucia Auza (13 points) helped fuel the offense.
EAC bounced back on Friday with a solid 65–55 win over Snow College. Enriquez paced the scoring with 12 points, while Trinity Alex-Mayer contributed across the board with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Navae Guidry added 11 points to help lift the Monsters.
The team closed the tournament on Saturday with a defensive grind, defeating Western Wyoming 52–45. Enriquez delivered a standout performance with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Auza added 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Dagons chipped in with 3 assists.
The Monsters now hit the road next week as they travel to Douglas, Arizona, to compete in the Cochise Tournament.
