Monsters’ Men Roll Past Community Christian 7-0

The Eastern Arizona College men's soccer team followed up the women's win with an offensive showcase of their own, shutting out Community Christian 7-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The Monsters struck early and often. Izan Llinas netted the opening goal in the 6th minute, finishing a cross from Davi Barros after a setup by Shawn Owens. Just three minutes later, Llinas scored again on nearly the same sequence, this time assisted by Ryuki Kato and Owens. Barros then joined the scoring sheet in the 10th minute, heading in a long throw from Owens for a 3-0 lead.

EAC wasn't done. In the 33rd minute, Axel Martinez slotted home a pass from Kaito Byer, and just five minutes later Cristian Martinez made it 5-0, cutting inside on a long ball from Oscar Gomez Sosa and finishing cleanly.

The second half saw even more balanced team play. Orane Strawn scored in the 55th minute after a quick passing combination from Gomez Sosa and Samuel Prado. Barros then netted his second of the game in the 77th minute, finishing a cross from Jorge Martinez.

Defensively, goalkeeper Xander Webb recorded two saves to secure the clean sheet. 

EAC now turns its attention to a conference clash with Yavapai College on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. following the women's match.
