Cabezas Named 2026 NJCAA DI West District Coach of the Year
THATCHER, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College Head Men's Golf Coach Conrado Cabezas has been named the West District Coach of the Year following another successful season leading the Gila Monsters on the national stage.
Under Cabezas' leadership, Eastern Arizona finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 17 nationally and No. 2 in the region, continuing the program's tradition of excellence. The Gila Monsters posted three team victories, recorded nine top-three finishes, and competed in 32 rounds throughout the season against some of the nation's top junior college programs.
The award recognizes a season in which Eastern Arizona consistently performed at a high level from start to finish. The Gila Monsters maintained a national ranking throughout the year and finished with a scoring average of 297.6, earning respect as one of the premier programs in the West District.
Coach Cabezas continues to set the standard for excellence in our golf program. His commitment to student-athlete development and competitive success has positioned EAC among the nation's top programs year after year. This recognition is a reflection of the work he and his student-athletes put in every day.
Cabezas guided a roster that produced strong performances throughout the season while helping Eastern Arizona remain competitive at the regional and national levels. The West District Coach of the Year honor adds to an already impressive résumé that has seen the Gila Monsters regularly contend for tournament championships and national recognition.
The 2025-26 season also included multiple individual honors for EAC golfers, including two All-American honors, which further highlights the strength and depth of the program under Cabezas' leadership.
With another nationally ranked finish and a district coaching honor, the future remains bright for Eastern Arizona Men's Golf as the Gila Monsters continue to build upon one of the most successful stretches in program history.
