Gila Monsters Battle Through Competitive Road Series at Southern Nevada

HENDERSON, Nv.– Eastern Arizona College wrapped up a hard‑fought three game set on the road at College of Southern Nevada, showing flashes of strong offensive stretches and resilient pitching despite dropping all three contests.

In the series opener on March 27, the Gila Monsters put together nine hits and jumped out with early scoring, including doubles from Will Applegate, Reece Van Devander, and Edouard Lamontagne. Van Devander drove in two runs, and Maverick Delgado added another RBI. Tristan Fielder and Applegate each turned in two hit games. On the mound, Nolan Matejcek delivered the longest outing, covering 4.2 innings while allowing just two earned runs. Eastern Arizona stayed within reach early, but Southern Nevada's late offense carried them to a 4–12 final.

Game two the same day remained tight throughout, with Eastern Arizona holding Southern Nevada to just three runs in a low‑scoring matchup. The Gila Monsters tallied eleven hits, highlighted by multi‑hit performances from Maverick Delgado, Will Applegate, Edouard Lamontagne, and Gustavo Gomez. Reece Van Devander drove in both of Eastern's runs with a two RBI hit in the third inning. Grant McMeekin and Caleb Rosado combined to strike out nine while scattering eleven hits over eight innings, keeping the team in position late before falling 2–3.

The final game on March 28 brought another competitive showing, with Eastern Arizona putting up a five run second inning to take an early lead. Reece Van Devander delivered a standout performance with a home run and four RBIs. Will Applegate added an RBI of his own, while Luke Santarius and Kayne Carlos each crossed the plate. Though the Gila Monsters were limited to four hits, they worked nine walks to keep pressure on the Coyotes' pitching. Shaveh Sarono and Lucas Dykstra combined for eight innings of work, striking out seven, but Southern Nevada countered with steady offense to take the game 6–9.

Across the series, Eastern Arizona continued to find contributions from key hitters while getting meaningful innings from a deepening pitching staff. The team now looks ahead to its next road matchup at Central Arizona College on April 3 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on April 4 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
