Gila Monsters Sweep Monday Doubleheader Against Langley
THATCHER, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College baseball swept Monday's home doubleheader against Langley, taking the opener 8–3 in seven innings before closing the day with a 10–0 run‑rule victory in five innings.
In Game 1, the Gila Monsters produced 13 hits and scored in five different innings. Will Applegate drove in three runs on a two‑hit performance, while Tristan Fielder added two RBI and scored twice. Gunnar Pedersen, Drew Bufford, Reece Van Devander, and Drew McNear each posted multi‑hit outings. On the mound, Kenny Wilsford worked 3.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and Maverick Delgado followed with 4.0 innings to secure the win.
Eastern Arizona carried that momentum into Game 2, striking for 10 runs on eight hits to end the contest after five innings. Gustavo Gomez led the offense with three RBI, Luke Santarius added three more on a triple, and Ben Simmons drove in two. Traigh Perry scored three times and collected two hits. Fielder returned to start on the mound, throwing 3.0 shutout innings with three strikeouts, and Lucas Dykstra closed out the final two frames without allowing a run.
The Gila Monsters now turn their attention to a road series at the College of Southern Nevada. The teams will meet for a doubleheader on Friday, March 27, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday, March 28, at 12:00 p.m.
